1 Now this is the family history of the sons of Noah—Shem, Ham, and Yefet. Now sons were born to them after the flood.
2 The sons of Yefet were: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Yavan, Tuval, Meshech, and Tiras. 3 And the sons of Gomer were: Ashkenaz, Rifat, and Togarmah. 4 And the sons of Yavan were: Elishah and Tarshish, the Kittians and the Dodanians. 5 From these the seacoasts of the nations in their lands were divided, everyone by his language, by their clans, in their nations.
6 And the sons of Ham were: Cush, Mitzrayim, Put, and Canaan. 7 And the sons of Cush were: Seva, Ḥavilah, Savtah, Ra’amah, and Savtekha. And the sons of Ra’amah were: Sheva and Dedan.
8 And Cush had Nimrod. He began to be a mighty man on the earth. 9 He was a mighty hunter in front of Yehovah. Therefore it is said, “like Nimrod, a mighty hunter in front of Yehovah.” 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. 11 From that land he went to Assyria, and built Nineveh and the open spaces of the city, Calaḥ, 12 and Resen between Nineveh and Calaḥ. It is the major city. 13 And Mitzrayim was the father of the Ludians, the Anamians, the Lehabim, the Naftuhians, 14 the Patrusians, the Casluhians (which the Philistines came from), and the Caftorians.
15 Canaan had Sidon (his firstborn), Het, 16 the Jebusite, the Amorite, the Girgashite, 17 the Hivite, the Arkite, the Sinite, 18 the Arvadite, the Tzemarite, and the Hamatite. And afterward the Canaanite clans were scattered abroad. 19 The Canaanite border went from Sidon, then as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza, then as you go toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Tzevoyim, as far as Lasha. 20 These are the sons of Ham, by their clans, by their languages, in their lands, in their nations.
21 And Shem also had children. He was father of all Ever’s children, and Yefet's older brother.* 22 The sons of Shem were: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. 23 The sons of Aram were: Utz and Hul, Geter and Mash. 24 Arpachshad had Shelaḥ. Shelaḥ had Ever. 25 Ever had two sons. The name of the first was Peleg (which means Division), because in his days the earth was divided. And his brother’s name was Yoktan. 26 Yoktan had Almodad and Sheleph, Hatzarmavet and Yerah, 27 Hadoram, Uzal and Diklah, 28 Oval, Avimael and Sheva, 29 Ophir, Ḥavilah, and Yovav. All these were the sons of Yoktan. 30 And their settlements went from Mesha, then as you go toward Sephar, the mountain region of the east. 31 These are the sons of Shem, by their clans, by their languages, in their lands, by their nations.
32 These are the clans of the sons of Noah, by their family history, in their nations. And from these the nations divided on the earth after the flood.
