Where Is the UK PM Mentioned in Bible Prophecy?

Several Bible prophecies mention the rise the United Kingdom and America and describe their current leaders. What do these prophecies say? What do they predict will happen next?

Rishi Sunak

In October 2022, Rishi Sunak was chosen to be the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He is the first non-white PM in the UK. He is also the first Hindu to hold this position.

In January 2021, Kamala Harris became the first female vice-president of the United States, and the first African American and Asian American vice president.

These, and other recent election results have fulfilled some of the Bible’s end-time predictions about the United Kingdom and the United States. The Bible also contains many shocking details about the future of these two countries.

But how do we know these Bible prophecies are about the UK and the US?

The UK and US in Bible Prophecy

Most Bible prophecy is about two groups of people: the Jews and the Israelites. Since many Jews today live in a nation called Israel, most people think that “Israel” is just another name for the Jews. But according to the Bible, the Israelites separated from the Jews about 3000 years ago, and have been a separate ethnic group since that time (1 Kings 12). The Israelites lived in the northern part of the area that is now called Israel, and the Jews lived in the southern part.

In 733 BC, the Assyrians began to conquer the Israelites and relocate them to the northern and eastern edges of the Assyrian Empire (2 Kings 15:29). Not long after, the Assyrians deported the rest of the Israelites: “In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes. … There was none left but the tribe of Judah only” (2 Kings 17:6, 18).

So Israel was taken away from their land, and only the Jews remained.

After Israelites were taken away, they seem to have disappeared from history. But they didn’t disappear from prophecy.

2520 Years Later

One Bible prophecy predicted that the Israelites would be punished for “seven times” for not obeying the laws of their God (Leviticus 26:24). “Seven times” in Bible prophecy refers to a period of 2520 days, or 2520 years (Revelation 11:2-3; 12:14; 13:5; Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6).

The Israelites were taken away from their land in 733 BC. If you add 2520 years to that date, you arrive at 1788 AD. That was the date that the Bible foretold the punishment of Israel would end. And what would happen then? One prophecy says that the Israelites would become “high above all nations of the earth” (Deuteronomy 28:1). Another prophecy predicted that one group among the Israelites would become many nations and another group would become a great nation (Genesis 48:19).

Now look at history. In 1788, did a group of nations begin to rise high above all other nations on the earth?

Consider these facts:

  • When did England become the leading power in the world? In 1788 , when France began to slide into the French Revolution.
  • When was Australia founded? On January 26, 1788.
  • When was Canada established? 1791, three years after the first English administrative districts were established in Quebec in 1788.
  • When was the United States born? When the U.S. Constitution was ratified on June 21, 1788.

These ancient prophecies about the Israelites were fulfilled right on schedule by the English-speaking nations of America, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The British Empire and the United States of America rose high above all nations of the earth.

That is the real reason the British Empire rose to rule one quarter of the world. Not because they were smarter or more capable than the other peoples of the world. It was simply a fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

The Bible also prophecies that these same countries would lose their power near the end of the age. The Bible contains many specific predictions about what would happen as the UK and US lose their power and influence in the world (Leviticus 26; Deuteronomy 28).

One specific prophecy says: “Foreigners who live in your land will gain more and more power, while you gradually lose yours. They will have money to lend you, but you will have none to lend them. In the end they will be your rulers” (Deuteronomy 28:43-44, Good News Bible). This is not a statement of prejudice—it is simply a detail of prophecy that is being fulfilled today.
