How to Celebrate the Feast of Trumpets

These are the instructions given for this day in Leviticus 23:23-25:

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord.’”

As you see above, this day is a “sabbath-rest…you shall do no customary work on it.” The only work that should be done on this day is preparing food (Exodus 12:16).

This day is also a “holy convocation,” which means we should assemble together with God’s Church on this day if we know where God’s assembly is.

We find a detailed description of how the Feast of Trumpets is celebrated in Nehemiah 8:1-12. If you have decided to celebrate this feast this year, you should read that whole passage to guide you on how to observe this day.
