Repentance should be our response to Christ’s sacrifice for us for us. Christ died to free us from sin, so that we should sin no more.

Just like leaven spreads and makes dough sour, if we do not repent of sin, it will spread within us until we become completely corrupt.

What does unleavened bread represent?

1 Corinthians 5:8 – “the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth”

To remove air from a glass, you must fill it with water. To remove sin from your life, you must replace it with sincere obedience to the truth.

Christ died for us—but that is not enough. He must also live in us (Galatians 2:20). We must allow Christ to live the same life of righteousness in us that He lived while He was on earth. As Christ lives in us, through God’s spirit, we are conformed to His image (Romans 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18).

As we eat unleavened bread during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, we are reminded that we need to “feed on Christ” (John 6:57-58) by studying and following the words He spoke (John 6:63).

Likewise, God has freed His servants from sin and is calling them out of spiritual Egypt to serve Him (Romans 6:17-18).

The night that the Feast of Unleavened Bread is a time to remember our journey out of spiritual Egypt.
